AUTONOMY SIMULATOR

Disciplines

Context
French car manufacturer Renault is a major actor in electric vehicles. In 2016, a survey run by Ipsos showed that nearly 60% of people questioned considered the autonomy of electric cars, all brands combined, to be insufficient.
Brief
To create an intuitive, didactic autonomy simulator to help users understand the factors impacting the autonomy of an electric vehicle, in order to reassure them.
My role
After an audit of the competitors' equivalent tools, I was in charge of the simulator's UX/UI, optimizing it for mobile (65% of browsing on the Renault site is done on mobile). I created a complete, functional prototype of the tool on Axure, including all the micro-interactions present on the final product, in order to carry out the most accurate user tests as possible. The outcome is a smooth, intuitive interface that allows fluid navigation between the filter panel and the autonomy display area. This last area also displays practical information and other tips to help the user optimize the distance travelled.

Mobile-first design of the autonomy simulator tool.

Creation of a complete and functional prototype of the tool on Axure for user testing.
The tool's adaptive design allows the filter panel to be displayed identically on mobile.
